India added 1.4 GW of wind energy capacity in the third quarter (Q3) of 2025, a 105% year-over-year (YoY) increase from 706.5 MW in Q3 2024, according to Mercom India Research. Capacity additions, however, fell 11% compared to Q2 2025. Quarter-over-quarter installations declined after the expiry of the waiver on interstate transmission system charges. Delays in grid connectivity, limited transmission capacity, and land acquisition challenges also contributed to the slowdown in project execution. The wind energy sector continued to face supply chain disruptions at both domestic and global levels.
