According to the Emirates Water and Electricity Company, Abu Dhabi will lead solar capacity additions in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2035. Abu Dhabi’s solar capacity additions are expected to increase by almost 2,000% between 2020 and 2030, with 17.5 GW of installed capacity forecasted. By 2035, this capacity is projected to exceed 30 GW, at which point solar is expected to provide approximately 40% of Abu Dhabi’s total power generation. Aligned with this goal, EWEC has already commissioned the development of Noor Abu Dhabi, Al Dhafra, Al Ajban, Khazna, and Zarraf Solar Photovoltaic projects.
