Solar Industry Reacts: PLI Program Good for Large Manufacturers; MSMEs Left Out

India has launched a performance-linked incentive (PLI) program to support vertically integrated, gigawatt-scale manufacturing of high-efficiency solar modules. The implementing agency – the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA), has also invited bids for setting up manufacturing capacities. The program aims to set up large-scale manufacturing with cutting-edge technology, promote an ecosystem for local material supplies, generate employment resulting in self-sufficiency (Atmanirbhar Bharat).
