The company highlighted that the addition of Kohli and Makhija strategically strengthens the board by bringing in Kohli&#8217;s extensive 45 years of experience across global markets and Makhija&#8217;s more than twenty years of specialization in the renewable energy field. They join Inderpreet Wadhwa, the Founder &amp; CEO of Azure Power, who became a board member in December 2022. Their collective expertise is anticipated to significantly contribute to guiding Sunsure Energy&#8217;s expansion within the Indian renewable energy landscape.</p>
<p><strong>Sandeep Kashyap</strong> is embarking on a new chapter as the <strong>Chief Executive Officer</strong> of the Renewables Business at <a href="https://www.rpsg.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">RP Sanjiv Goenka Group</a>. Kashyap comes from a seven-year tenure at ACME Group, where he served as the Chief Executive Officer for solar, wind, and electrolyzer manufacturing while also taking on the responsibilities of President of corporate affairs. His time in these roles, which were based in Gurugram, Haryana, India, preceded his position as Chief Operating Officer for the renewable energy business, where he played a significant role in the operations across India.</p>
<p><a href="https://dhashgroup.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">DhaSh Group of Companies</a> has welcomed <strong>Bhupendra Singh Rawat</strong> as its new <strong>Chief Executive Officer</strong>. With thirty years of distinguished experience and leadership within the renewable energy field, Rawat is expected to play a pivotal role in driving the company&#8217;s growth and success through his vision and innovative approaches. Before joining DhaSh, Rawat spent more than seven years at RenewSys India, where he served as the Head of Supply Chain Management. Prior to that role, he was in charge of Business Development for over five years, further cementing his expertise and contribution to the industry.</p>
<p><strong>Amit Garg</strong> has recently been appointed as <strong>Associate Director </strong>at <a href="https://ampin.energy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">AmpIn Energy Transition</a>. Previously, Garg held the position of Vice President at SunSource Energy, where he was instrumental in managing costs and supervising the operations of power plants. Prior to his vice-presidential role, he was the Assistant Vice President of Solar Operations and Maintenance. In that capacity, he focused on maintenance management and SCADA systems, showcasing his expertise and proficiency in an additional skill area.</p>
<p><strong>Sajay KV</strong> has officially taken on the position of <strong>Chief Executive Officer</strong> at <a href="https://www.solarpack.es/en/home-2/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Solarpack</a>. Before this appointment, he significantly contributed to BrightNight Power India as its CEO, focusing on the company&#8217;s operations within the NCR region. Preceding his time there, Sajay was engaged as the President overseeing wind, solar, and regulatory affairs at Hero Future Energies in Delhi. Equipped with a mechanical engineering background and expertise in machine tool design, Sajay carries extensive experience in business process re-engineering into his new role. He is recognized for his leadership abilities in the wind and solar industries, having worked with independent power producers as well as firms specializing in original equipment manufacturing/engineering, procurement, and construction.</p>
<p><strong>Ravindra Goyal</strong> has been appointed as the <strong>Group Chief Procurement Officer</strong> by <a href="https://www.gensol.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gensol Group</a>. In his role, Goyal is tasked with spearheading the supply chain management initiatives across the group&#8217;s clean energy and electric mobility sectors. Working in collaboration with leadership teams at the entity level, his mandate includes improving procurement processes, achieving cost efficiencies to ensure projects are completed on schedule, upholding quality standards, and promoting the development and digitalization of supply chain management operations.</p>
<p><strong>N. Srikant</strong>, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre, has been named the <strong>Additional Secretary of the Union Ministry of <a href="https://powermin.gov.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Power</a> and New and Renewable Energy (<a href="https://mnre.gov.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MNRE</a>)</strong>. A member of the 1998 batch of all India services, Srikant has previously held the position of Joint Secretary in the Union Cabinet, and was transferred last year. Prior to that, he was the Secretary (Energy) for the Government of Andhra Pradesh and has filled various roles, including being the first Commissioner of the AP Capital Region Development Authority. As the Energy Secretary, Srikant was instrumental in adopting cost-saving initiatives that led to significant financial benefits for the State.</p>

Before these appointments, Srivastava served as the Principal Secretary of Madhya Pradesh’s New and Renewable Energy Department, overseeing key responsibilities. He was also the commissioner for the New &amp; Renewable Energy Department, the Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam, and the Chairperson of Rewa Ultra Mega Solar.</p>

<p>Srivastava was earlier the principal secretary of the Technical Education, Skill Development, and Employment Department, and the Rural Industries Department.</p>
<p>Before these appointments, Srivastava served as the Principal Secretary of Madhya Pradesh&#8217;s New and Renewable Energy Department, overseeing key responsibilities. He was also the commissioner for the New &amp; Renewable Energy Department, the Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam, and the Chairperson of Rewa Ultra Mega Solar (RUMSL).</p>
<p>Under Srivastava&#8217;s leadership, RUMSL played a critical role in the development of ultra-mega solar power projects, managing activities conventionally undertaken by central public sector undertakings (CPSU) at the state level.</p>
<p>One of his major accomplishments was the implementation of the 750 MW Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Power Project.</p>
<p>The Rewa project was then one of the largest single-site solar power projects in the world, spread over an area of 1,590 hectares. Compared to then prevailing solar project tariffs of ₹4.5 (~$0.054)/kWh with viability gap funding (VGF), the tariff of the Rewa project was a historic low at ₹2.97 (~$0.036)/kWh for the first year and a levelized rate of ₹3.3 (~$0.04)/kWh over 25 years. It is significant that this tariff was achieved without any VGF support.</p>
<p>The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy had acknowledged that the primary reason for the low tariffs was the careful structuring of the project risk-sharing mechanism. A sound payment security mechanism backed by a state guarantee for timely payment to developers was a critical point for investors who were wary of power distribution companies delaying payment to developers by several months to even a year in many states. The other ground-breaking measure was the assured offtake of power and provision of deemed generation beyond 50 hours of back-down.</p>
<p>The project was undertaken by RUMSL, a state government organization, without the involvement of CPSUs.</p>
<p>RUMSL took charge of various activities, including conceptualization, market consultations, financial and legal structuring, and bid process management. It also undertook land development and associated infrastructure, international bidding processes, and negotiations with key stakeholders such as Delhi Metro and MPMCL for power purchase agreements.</p>
<p>The project received the World Bank Group’s President’s Award for innovation and excellence and was included in the Prime Minister’s “A Book of Innovation: New Beginnings.”</p>
<p>During Srivastava’s tenure, Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam <a href="https://cms.mercomindia.com/l1-tariff-1-38-mp-solar-rooftop-auction/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">achieved</a> a first-year tariff of ₹1.38 (~$0.017)/ kWh under the renewable energy service company mode for 8.6 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar projects.</p>
<p>The solar sector over the years has benefited from a dynamic leadership in the energy departments at the central and state levels.</p>
