The last date to submit bids is September 18, 2026.</p>
<p>The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/maharashtra-regulator-approves-tariffs-to-procure-2-27-gw-of-solar-power" target="_blank" rel="noopener">allowed</a> Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company’s petition seeking adoption of tariffs discovered for the long-term procurement of 2.27 GW of solar power under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0.</p>
<p>NTPC SAIL Power Company, a joint venture of NTPC and Steel Authority of India <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/ntpc-sail-announces-winner-of-20-mw-floating-solar-auction" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> the winner of its auction for the engineering, procurement, and construction of a 20 MW floating solar project in Chhattisgarh.</p>
<p>As India <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/choosing-the-right-solar-supplier-is-no-longer-just-about-price" target="_blank" rel="noopener">accelerates</a> the transition to domestically manufactured solar cells and modules, manufacturers and developers are increasingly prioritizing supply chain readiness, engineering support, and technology adoption over equipment price alone.</p>
<p>In an interview on the sidelines of the Mercom India Renewables Summit 2026, <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/priority-sector-lending-can-accelerate-indias-polysilicon-manufacturing-interview" target="_blank" rel="noopener">held</a> in New Delhi between July 1 and 2, Harsh Vardhan Govil, Chief Operating Officer of Solar Manufacturing at SAEL, spoke about the mismatch between domestic solar cell and module manufacturing capacity, the likely consolidation of the sector, and the broader challenges associated with India’s ingot and wafer manufacturing mandate.</p>
<p>In an interview with Mercom India, Niral Patel, Chairman and Managing Director of Atlanta Electricals, <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/transformers-grid-equipment-manufacturing-need-solar-like-policy-push-interview" target="_blank" rel="noopener">spoke</a> about the company’s expansion of manufacturing expansion and export strategy, raw material pressures, evolving lender sentiment, and the policy support needed to localize critical transmission equipment.</p>
<p>In an interview on the sidelines of the Mercom India Renewables Summit 2026, Bhupendra Singh Rawat, Chief Executive Officer at Dhash Green Energy, <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/domestic-solar-components-need-quality-standards-and-policy-support-interview" target="_blank" rel="noopener">discussed</a> India’s ancillary manufacturing ecosystem, product reliability, quality standards, policy support, and the company’s expansion plans.</p>
<p>UJVN <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/uttarakhand-invites-bids-for-90-mw-225-mwh-battery-storage-project" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invited</a> bids to develop a 90 MW/225 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Uttarakhand. The BESS will be located near the 132 kV Chilla hydropower substation in Pauri Garhwal. The last day to submit the bids is August 25, 2026. Bids will be opened on August 28.</p>
<p>SECI <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/seci-seeks-carbon-dioxide-sources-for-green-urea-and-green-methanol" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invited</a> expressions of interest (EoIs) to identify carbon dioxide sources for green urea and RFNBO-compliant green methanol production in India.</p>
<p>Terra Clean <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/terra-clean-invites-bids-for-200-mw-wind-project-in-karnataka" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invited</a> bids to develop a 200 MW  interstate transmission system-connected wind power project in Karnataka. The last date to submit bids is September 1, 2026. Bids will be opened on the same day.</p>
<p>Deep Tech energy startup Adiabatic Technologies <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/deep-tech-energy-startup-adiabatic-technologies-raises-%E2%82%B983-million" target="_blank" rel="noopener">raised</a> ₹83 million (~$872,517) in a seed funding round led by Malpani Ventures and Avinya Ventures. Other investors who participated in the fundraise were Appreciate Capital, DeVC, Operators Studio (San Francisco), and UPES Incubator.</p>
<p>Researchers at North Carolina State University have <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/new-research-improves-day-ahead-solar-forecasting-accuracy-by-13" target="_blank" rel="noopener">demonstrated</a> techniques that improved day-ahead solar power forecasting by up to 13% compared with the most consistently performing individual model.</p>
<p>The U.S. International Trade Commission <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/us-ends-topcon-patent-probe-against-trina-philadelphia-solar" target="_blank" rel="noopener">terminated</a> its investigation against Philadelphia Solar USA and Trina Solar after First Solar withdrew its complaint alleging infringement of its U.S. patent claims related to TOPCon solar cells, modules, and related products.</p>
<p>Shoals Technologies Group, a manufacturer of electrical infrastructure solutions for utility-scale solar, battery storage, and data center power systems, <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/solar-battery-storage-demand-push-shoals-revenue-up-47-yoy-in-q2-2026" target="_blank" rel="noopener">posted</a> revenue of $163.4 million in the second quarter of 2026, up 47.4% year-over-year from $110.8 million.</p>

					</table><p>NTPC SAIL Power Company (<a href="https://www.nspcl.co.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NSPCL</a>), a joint venture of <a href="https://www.ntpc.co.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NTPC</a> and Steel Authority of India (<a href="https://www.sail.co.in/en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">SAIL</a>), has announced the winner of its auction for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of a 20 MW floating solar project in Chhattisgarh.</p>
<p><a href="https://usolar.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">USolar Clean Energy Solutions</a> quoted ₹1.27 billion (~$13.35 million) to secure the contract.</p>
<p>The project will be set up on the Maroda Reservoir-2 in Bhilai.</p>
<p>The tender was <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/ntpc-sail-power-tenders-20-mw-floating-solar-project-in-bhilai/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">floated</a> in April this year.</p>
<p>The selected contractor must undertake the basic and detailed engineering of the grid-connected floating solar project, including the preparation of foundation drawings, single-line diagrams, installation drawings, electrical layouts, design calculations, design memoranda, and other engineering documents required for the project’s civil, electrical, mechanical, and auxiliary systems.</p>
<p>The scope includes the development of the floating solar project, installation of solar modules in the designated reservoir area, and the associated power evacuation infrastructure.</p>
<p>The contractor must conduct topographical and geotechnical investigations of the land and waterbody, along with a bathymetric survey where required. Site preparation may include vegetation clearing, grading, and dredging for floating solar blocks, inverter platforms, and access routes.</p>
<p>The floating solar system will include the supply, installation, anchoring, and fixing of floaters, pathways, and solar modules. The contractor must also construct launching and operation and maintenance platforms with suitable road and water access. Temporary electricity and water required during construction must be arranged by the contractor.</p>
<p>The project may use central or string inverters housed in pre-engineered inverter rooms or platforms. The contractor must provide the associated low-tension and high-tension switchgear and complete all electrical and civil works required to connect the project to the grid. This includes transformers, isolators, current transformers, circuit breakers, protection systems, cables, panels, and metering systems at the 33 kV and 132 kV voltage levels. Grid-compliance studies must be carried out in accordance with regulations.</p>
<p>The contractor must install any reactive power compensation system identified as necessary by the grid study and ensure the floating solar project is satisfactorily integrated with NSPCL’s existing alternating-current systems. The project’s power evacuation system must be constructed in accordance with the tender drawings.</p>
<p>A central monitoring and control station must be established within the floating solar project premises. It will include a supervisory control and data acquisition system, power plant controller panel, and associated equipment.</p>
<p>The SCADA system must enable remote monitoring and control of the inverters and include all necessary hardware and software. A complete weather monitoring station, including cloud-cover monitoring, must also be installed.</p>
<p>The power evacuation infrastructure will include underground 33 kV cabling from the floating project’s pooling switchgear to NSPCL’s 132 kV Bhilai switchyard. The cable route will involve multiple railway crossings. The contractor must also augment the 132 kV bay, provide a suitable busbar extension with dedicated control through the substation automation system, and integrate the switchyard automation system with the floating project’s SCADA platform.</p>
<p>The contractor must provide a wet module-cleaning system, including all accessories, controls, and monitoring equipment at the central monitoring station.</p>
<p>The scope includes comprehensive operation and maintenance of the solar project and its electrical systems for three years from commissioning.</p>
