					</table><p>REC Power Development and Consultancy (<a href="https://www.recpdcl.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">RECPDCL</a>) has announced the winner of its auction to set up an interstate transmission system (ISTS) to evacuate power from 4.5 GW of green hydrogen/ammonia projects in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.</p>
<p>Adani Energy Solutions (<a href="https://www.adanienergysolutions.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">AESL</a>) won the transmission project valued at ₹85 billion (~$881.31 million).</p>
<p>The project will also meet the rising power demand in the Pendurthi and Visakhapatnam region, driven by planned data center and digital infrastructure investments.</p>
<p>The tender was <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/recpdcl-invites-bids-to-evacuate-5-gw-of-power-from-green-hydrogen-projects" target="_blank" rel="noopener">floated</a> in February 2026.</p>
<p>The project is expected to be completed within 30 months.</p>
<p>AESL must establish the Pendurthi–Srikakulam 765 kV double-circuit transmission line, with 330 MVAr switchable line reactors (convertible) installed at the Srikakulam end on both circuits.</p>
<p>It must also provide the line-in-line-out of the Kalpakka–Maradam 400 kV (quad) double-circuit line at Pendurthi, along with the establishment of a 3×1,500 MVA, 765/400 kV Khammam-II substation featuring a 1×330 MVAr (765 kV) bus reactor and space provision for a 220 kV switchyard.</p>
<p>AESL must establishment of the Khammam-II – Warangal New 765 kV double-circuit line, the Khammam-II – Pendurthi 765 kV double-circuit line with 330 MVAr switchable line reactors (convertible) at both ends on both circuits, and the Khammam-II – Khammam 400 kV (quad) double-circuit line.</p>
<p>Its scope covers the design, engineering, equipment supply, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning of the project.</p>
<p>AESL must also provide for the establishment, operation, and maintenance of the project under a build-own-operate-transfer model.</p>
<p>It must conduct surveys, prepare a detailed project report, arrange financing, manage the project, and secure clearances and permits.</p>
<p>This June, AESL <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/adani-energy-solutions-to-acquire-smart-metering-company-intellismart">signed</a> a binding securities purchase and subscription agreement to acquire 100% of the equity in smart metering company IntelliSmart Infrastructure.</p>
<p>In April, Adani Electricity Mumbai Infrastructure, a subsidiary of AESL, <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/adani-commissions-1-gw-transmission-link-to-deliver-renewable-power-to-mumbai" target="_blank" rel="noopener">commissioned</a> a 1 GW high-voltage direct current transmission link between Kudus and Aarey, enabling a greater flow of renewable power into Mumbai.</p>

					</table><p>The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/mnre-extends-self-certification-for-solar-inverters-above-200-kw" target="_blank" rel="noopener">extended</a> the implementation timeline of mandatory compliance under the Solar Systems, Devices and Components Goods Order, 2025 for solar inverters with capacities above 200 kW. The extension applies to inverters covered under items 4 and 5 of the order. Manufacturers may continue to comply through self-certification until December 31, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.</p>
<p>Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL) <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/guvnl-announces-winners-of-250-mw-wind-auction" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> the winners of the auction to procure power from 250 MW of grid-connected wind projects (Phase-XI).</p>
<p>REC Power Development and Consultancy <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/recpdcl-announces-winner-of-ists-project-to-evacuate-20-gw-of-renewables" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> the winner of the auction to develop an interstate transmission system to augment the Bhadla-III, Ramgarh pooling station, and Kanpur substation to evacuate 20 GW of renewable power in Rajasthan.</p>
<p>India’s solar manufacturing industry has <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/rd-key-to-next-phase-of-indias-solar-growth-global-competitiveness" target="_blank" rel="noopener">rapidly</a> expanded over the past few years, driven by supportive government policies and growing domestic demand. However, industry leaders believe the next phase of growth will depend less on adding manufacturing capacity and more on investing in research and development, automation, upstream integration, and advanced technologies to compete globally.</p>
<p>The Central Electricity Authority <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/power-regulators-call-for-thermal-ramping-overhaul-as-renewables-surge" target="_blank" rel="noopener">proposed</a> a change to how coal-fired power plants are scheduled and assessed for ramping operations, in light of the integration of increasing volumes of solar and wind energy into the grid.</p>
<p>The Bihar Electricity Regulatory Commission <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/bihar-regulator-clears-revised-ppa-for-275-mw-rooftop-solar-project" target="_blank" rel="noopener">approved</a> the proposed energy accounting mechanism and the revised power purchase agreement for a 275 MW rooftop solar project proposed by the South Bihar Power Distribution Company and the North Bihar Power Distribution Company.</p>
<p>GAIL (India) invited bids to <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/gail-seeks-consultant-for-600-mw-solar-550-mwh-battery-storage-project" target="_blank" rel="noopener">appoint</a> a project management consultant for its proposed 600 MW ground-mounted captive solar power project integrated with a 550 MWh battery energy storage system at the TUSCO Solar Park in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh.</p>
<p>The World Bank <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/world-bank-approves-890-million-financing-package-for-pm-surya-ghar" target="_blank" rel="noopener">approved</a> an $890 million (~₹84.95 billion) financing package to support the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. The financing package comprises an $820 million (~₹78.27 billion) loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), a $60 million (~₹5.73 billion) concessional loan from the Clean Technology Fund, and a $10 million (~₹954.48 million) grant from the IBRD’s Livable Planet Fund.</p>
<p>Insolation Green Energy won a ₹5.58 billion (~$58.46 million) contract to <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/insolation-energy-bags-58-million-solar-module-contract-from-ntpc-rel" target="_blank" rel="noopener">supply</a> solar modules to NTPC Renewable Energy. The contract will be executed in the financial year 2026-27.</p>
<p>France <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/france-awards-300-mw-of-rooftop-solar-projects-in-ci-auction" target="_blank" rel="noopener">awarded</a> 326 rooftop solar projects with a combined capacity of 300.2 MW under the 12th round of its competitive procurement program for commercial and industrial (C&amp;I) installations.</p>
<p>Argentina’s government <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/argentina-awards-700-mw-of-battery-storage-projects-under-alma-sadi-tender" target="_blank" rel="noopener">awarded</a> 20 battery energy storage projects with a collective capacity of 700.5 MW under its Alma SADI tender. The battery storage projects were submitted by five domestic companies and would require an estimated investment of $700 million.</p>
