According to research supported by the MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI), hydrogen-fired power generation can be a cost-effective alternative to backing up solar and wind power. Emre Gençer and Drake D. Hernandez, research scientists at MITEI, have devised a model that allows for a more precise assessment of the advantages and disadvantages of various peak-power plant alternatives.
